Just a post to keep it moving.

I was going to write this post up 10 minutes ago, and I had a lot to say, but here I am 10 minutes into the future and can't think of a damn thing to say. so it goes.
I'm really digging The Decemberists' latest album. It's on the mellow side, but I really like that the songs tell so many stories. Other CDs that got extremely high rotation are: Coldplay, Annie, My Chemical Romance, and Fischerspooner. Got the new New Pornographer's album, so that may get added to the playlist, as will the latest Herbaliser disc.
On the book side of things, I'm still reading The Know-It-All and The Otori Book 2. The Know it all is good, but I only read it whilest in bed, and usually manage half a page before I am passed out. The Otori, on the other hand, is getting better and I am enjoying it more then I thought. It's a book I want to read the whole series of, but don't know that I'd actually suggest it to other people. I mean, why read that if you could read George R. R. Martin's works?
Videogames aren't happening too much for me right now, as I am waiting for the arrival of a replacement DVD-rom for the Xbox. It's a little sad, because there my Playstation (that's 2, of course) sits, wagging its tail, looking up at me expectantly. Saying, "COme on, how about some TEKKEN. you love tekken. Or some more Katamari Damacy? It's so fresh and innovative. And wacky, you know you can't resist wacky. I mean my drive still works. go buy a Final Fantasy title. Don't you remember the good times? You used to love me, why has our relationship fallen apart... I can change, dammit, just let me!!" It turns away from me, trying to hide the tears. I hear faintly "why do you hurt the ones you love..."

I really do want to go out and get Final Fantasy X, as I never finished the game. yes, yes, I know. don't rub it in. But there are others: God of War, Sly 2, and other exclusive to the PS2. It's just that I've been trying not to get into any new games until I've finished some from my pile of "games currently being played" - a list that includes: Pirates, Madden, MVP, Burnout, Star Wars: KOTOR, Thief 3, Fable, Phantom Dust.
This is one of the most mature desicions I've made in the past year. I guess this is growing up.
Plus, I'll be spending some quality time on the west coast thanks to work. And I really don't want to get too into a game then put it aside for three weeks. I'll lose all my momentum!!

At this point, I realize that for those of you who don't spend time with a controller in both hands trying to get some pixelated character from point A to point B may have no use for the above information. well, it's my blog, so indulge me. bitches.

Well, alright, I don't have much more to say right now, but I did manage to make this postmuch longer than it needed to be. go me. One last thing: Why isn't Catherine Keener more popular? I mean, she's been in hit movies (Being John MAlkovich, 40yr. Old Virgin, etc..), and there's something about her that is just plain hot. Maybe it's the whole hot-mom thing? who knows. but daddy like.

Stress-free weekend: The Update

Yeah, so funny thing happened on Saturday night, after the last post. I tried my hardest to spend the rest of the night playing video games, but *gasp*, tragedy struck. In the middle of my 4th exibition game in Madden '06, halfway through, an annoying EEEEERRRRRRRRR was produced from my TV, followed by the locking up of my system.

The DVD-drive in the X-box be dead.

Now, we have two Xboxes (the X short for piece-of-shit) and this is the second drive to die. SO, failure rate on the DVD-drive inside Microsoft's Xbox video game system? 100%

...yes, I love technology...

On another note, watched two movies Sunday. Aviator, which was good for the most part, worth seeing, but not nearly as good as the other movie I saw. namely:

That's right, The 40yr Old Virgin. Let me tell you, this movie was SOOOO GOOOD. I wish I had the DVD already, because I want to watch it again. Let me put it this way: If you make a chart with the best scenes at the top and the worst scenes at the bottom, the scene with a dog HUMPING another dog would only fall in the middle. yes, it's that freakin' good.

Stress-free weekend

That's what it was supposed to be at any rate. WIth the death, or at least fatal wounding, of my car, I was a running a little high on the blood pressure chart. So, I personally perscribed 5000ccs of video game for the weekend. I figured, easy, just do nothing, stay holed up in the house, dedicate all alert moments to the conquering of my large pile of to-be-beaten video games, and during the whole process consume many alcoholic beverages. simple.
Oh, yeah, I had one EASY task to complete that existed outside the realm of the videogame world(s). And that being, return the rental which I had run out and picked up to help ease the lack of personal transportation. Not difficult at all.

or so I thought.

Before I continue with my little story, let me just fill you in on my dirty little secret. I have two known super powers. One, that I can make all traffic lights turn from green to red as I approach, most notably when time is of the essence. My second is that, should I have some kind of monetary difficulty (say, for instance, the death of a car), I will then proceed to have difficulties in every aspect of my life. If only I could use these powers for good instead of evil. or at least evil directed towards anyone except myself.

So, I return the rental, hand them my card, ready to sign on the dotted line and pay three months worth of payments on their stupid faggy-purple Kia Rio. I have plenty to cover it, and shouldn't be a problem. that is until they proceed to charge me not once, not twice, but THREE fucking times. (at this writing, we can always hope - and expect - for more.) Wait, let that sink in: CHARGED ME THREE TIMES.

Now, the nice young man behind the counter has been apologizing most of the day, and that is nice of him. I mean, sure what does he have to worry, not his account, but I guess it's the thought that counts. We've contacted my bank, they can't help me. And he has assured me that he will be in touch with corporate, and they will resolve this issue.

on MONDAY.

Now, I am forever the optimistic, and I do realize that them ("them" referring to "corporate") resolving this issue could be as simple as them scratching their heads, shrugging their shoulders, and saying, well we got our money. and I admit, that IS a resolution, just not the one I'd wish for.

So, yeah, so much for avoiding that stress. If you need me I will be shut in my house for the next 48 hours, sationary on the couch, fearful that any movement could activate my dormant (for now) super-power. Oh, and I'll be DRUNK.

Probably just a quick post

This isn't intended to be a full post, but rather a quick note to myself:

The second law of thermodynamics. There's something there.

Now, this really will mean NOTHING to anyone who reads this, but eventually I may elaborate. It's really not all that important.

So, a few posts back I mentioned putting a link in the post. Did you find it? Well, it's actually found by clicking on the title of the post. I haven't used this feature in any other post until today. Today's link is to the wikipedia. What is the wikipedia, you might ask? It's the internet's free encyclopedia, and it has an entry for EVERYTHING. Yes, whatever you're thinking of, it's in there. yes, that too, you sick fuck.
Anyway, when I first came across the wikipedia, I really didn't like the idea. For one, the name is stupid. Yes, I have warmed up to it, and no I can't think of anything better, but when I first heard of it, I just thought. dumb. DUMB. Also, I first came across it with some entry (which I don't remember), but that entry was steeped in deep slang. and I thought, great some source for all these little street urchins to dumb-down their grammar even further.
But then something happened. I wanted to look up information on what an aleph number is - "aleph usually refers to a series of numbers used to represent the cardinality (or size) of infinite sets."(And yes, I did in fact steal that definition from the wikipedia.) What's truly great is that inside each definition are multiple paths to different topics related to the topic you're investigating. multiple branches. It's like a freakin' Choose-Your-Own-Adventure(tm) of knowledge. I'm waiting to follow a link and recieve a message that tells me that the entire G.I.Joe team is proud of me for taking down C.O.B.R.A. and that Destro will never ever again try to burn down the library.

Ok, off to bed.
Oh, yeah, my car has NO BRAKES. sweet dreams to me.

Are You Ready For The Foosball?

Alright, two days, two Fantasy Football drafts down. If I were to grade my drafts, Draft one - the one in our 6+ year old Yahoo league - would get a possible C. The sad thing is, it's not ENTIRELY my fault. What happened was that I made my first pick, Duece McCallister as Number 6 overall (a very satisfying pick), and then - BAM! - system lock-up. My next picked, selected by the computer, RUEBEN DROUGHNS. A second string running back who might not start any games and is injury prone. ARGH!! Now, at the time I was drafting at my office, after hours. After the pick was made I proceeded to kick my desk chair whilst screaming obsenities resulting in a bruised foot.

I might have anger issues.

The rest of the draft my computer worked fine - after a restart - and I did do an alright job of catching up. Brady as my number one QB, Joe Horn as my Number one WR. It could be a very long year, or I could look like a freakin' genius.

Draft 2 - for the first inaugral EA Sports League - I grade myself with a solid A. first pick - LT. Bam Number one running back. Pick two - McNabb, top 5 QB. Third pick - my pick for break out performer this year: LaMont Jordan. Pick Four - a top 5 WR in Torry Holt. This Juggernaut will be unstoppable.
Plus, the joy of listening to Nate's sniveling while I took Kerry Collins was the highlight of the year. He's already proposing doing unmentionable things to acquire Collins. Man, I hope he goes BIG. best year ever.

So, that occupied my time the past two days. Rest of the time been reading comics, playing videogames, drinking beer. Life is in fact, good. Now I just have figure out how to get my car inspected, and everything will be right with the world.

Oh, one last thing, a big pat on my back for knowing the two books of the Old Testemant that started with P last night at trivia. Proverbs and Psalms.
Maybe I'm a little further from hell then I thought?

Wow, time FLIES!

I can't believe it, it's Thursday already. I just looked back and noticed the last update was on SUNDAY. hmmm... this updating regularly isn't really working out for me. But I must persist. I mean it, I will try to do better. honestly. no really, stop laughing...

Ok, so I am trying out a new feature, which is adding a link. It will be found somewhere on this blog. Though, don't ask me just yet, becasue I have no idea WHERE that somewhere is. My guess is the bottom.

I've been viewing a few other people's blogs and have noticed how nice and shiny they are. They have sidebars with links and pictures and books and such. My guess is that the easiest way to get those features is to change where my blog is located, but I just can't do that. At least not yet. I am stupidely loyal to out-dated items. I mean I'm doing it this way, why change? My car's transmission doesn't slip ALL the time, so why get a new one? Videogames were so much better before, so why play NEW ones? etc, etc.

Yes, my personal stupidity amazes me sometimes. Thank god my imense dislike of pain keeps me from pummeling my own ass. And I meant that in a cro-magnon high school jock kind of pummeling, not the homosexual kind of pummeling.

ahem.

Man, I've keep meaning to sit down and actually work on a comic script I've had fluttering through my head, but I just don't do it.
*WARNING: Personal Psycho-analysis ahead*
I suppose that the reason I don't do it, is that as long as it remains inside my head - remains just a vague notion, not an actual concrete THING - that it will never be bad. I mean, if I don't tell anyone it's never a pile of crap. If I do tell someone, but don't write it down, they can flesh out the details and make it good. But once it's out there, brother, everyone will see it for what it really is. be careful or you might step in it.

Well, whatever, I will do it one day. The point isn't that it's bad - as it will be - the point is that I do it. one day, my friends, one day.

So in the meantime I've filled my time with comics, videogames, and drunken trivia. I've discovered that I'm not really an alcoholic as I always claim to be, unless trivia is involved. Then watch out, I'm closing down the freakin' bar. People claim Marijuana is the ultimate gateway drug, but not so; it lies in a blank answer sheet and a man with a microphone questioning my knowledge of pop culture.

I just noticed I capitalized Marijuana in the above sentence. Seems like that would make sense if I still smoked the freakin' stuff.

Alright so, Current lusts: Doira Baird, Jennifer Connelly (before mass weight loss), 1GB Memory Stick, is it to early to say Playstation 3? Current Reads: The Know-It-All, The Otori Book 2, Invincible (believe the hype - this comic is that fucking good). Current Listens: Sleater-Kinney, Dungen, My Chemical Romance, Love, Annie, Frank Black.

Ok, that's all for now.
