This is downright unheard of....
Ok, I'll admit... i feel bad about not posting yesterday. so I'm doing two for today. Does it make up for the missed post? Not at all. I feel like an alcoholic father who missed their favorite child's birthday party, and now is showing up with a pony.
Unfortunatly, this pony is missing a leg.
The one thing I need to do is get into some routine. i mean I have a bit of a routine... wake up... grumble...be pissed for no reason... hit snooze at least 5 times... beat the roomate to the shower... head to the office... count the time until work is done... then either go to the gym, or head home to skip eating a well balanced meal in favor of a peanut butter jelly sandwich by the light of my computer monitor.
sad, really.
Now, somewhere in there I need to add: write something stupid. Wait, I don't mean that what I write be stupid (though it most likely will be), let me clean up my grammar here: write something, stupid. there, much better. that stupid is directed at my head.
I've read books on writing, and I have had some formal education on the subject (I've gone to - what - 5 schools since high school), and one thing is to read. read read read. Which I do regularly... magazines...comics....novels...cereal boxes... whatever I can get my hands on. My current stack: A feast of crows, othello, 25 to-be-read comics, 3 graphic novels, a copy of scientific american, the latest copy of wired... probably missing some stuff in there. This mother fucker reads man.
Of course, the OTHER thing I'm supposed to do is write. Somehow I've missed that little tidbit. In "On Writing Well" (I think that's the correct book), they tell you to make a routine... set a time that you should write everyday. it's not a hobby... it's a job.
That's the part I miss. these comic book writers, these novelists, their job is to write. And the really good ones, do it at regular jobs. Above i mentioned that I go to the office... welll these people do too. Their office may be in their home, and they may show up in pajama panmts and bunny slippers, but they stick to their strict regime. at least I think they do.
and so, along with typing some new posts in this blog... I'm gonna TRY to get into a routine. tomorrow.
right now, I'm signing off and going to lay down to read some comics, and listen to the "Superfly Soundtrack". I'm a get my funk on.
