The Weekend of the Geeks

So, this weekend, I get to devote all of my time to my inner geek. (Though really, it's not much of an inner-geek, so says my Captain America T-shirts). Yesterday was the start of Wizard World Philly, and I spent the day hanging out with fellow geeks taking in all the latest news about the world of comics. And standing in lines. so many lines.

I had to wait in a line to get my 3day badge - that's right, I took the plunge and will hang out atthe convention all three days. It's less an enjoyable experience and more of an endurance test.

Then, after 45 minutes, I had to wait in another line to enter the convention. 45 minutes - 1 hour.

Then, I waited in line for another hour to buy a limited edition variant cover of a comic book. and hour to buy one freakin' comic.

That may be the most embarrising thing I've ever written.

After that, most of the lines were done, and I headed out to explore the sights and sounds of the convention.

Overall, the convention is a bit of a let down, a lot of people have cancelled, and I fear I might be searching for things to do buy the end. Plus, I've already spent a lot of money. a LOT. I won't go into the details, but it did involve a Bate Ray Bill bust. shameful.

Still, I'm loving the experience, and I'm tailing along with a friend who writes reviews about comics and knows a lot in the industry, so that is pretty cool. I'll probably talk about it more in another post, as it is taking up all of my time right now.

OH, real quick, we've really been getting into board games, and the two we love right now are: The Settlers of Catan and Carcosonne. if you can play either of these, by all means, do it. They are simply fantastic, and pretty easy to learn.
